Accessibility

The Toolbox website is easy to use, quick to access and has been built to provide with a wide variety of technologies and browsers in mind – including assistive technologies.

Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Councils must ensure that information and services provided on the website are available to people with a disability. Councils are also committed to providing access to people with technical limitations such as low Internet connection speeds and older browsers.

To do this, our website utilities Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for page layout and formatting, and we continue to improve our compliance with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) web accessibility standards. If you encounter web accessibility difficulties, please contact us.

Usability

Extensive research and community consultation has been conducted to ensure the current web site design is easy to use.  The design employs User-Centred Design principles to ensure a consistent customer user experience.

We also welcome any feedback on how we can improve the site for you.

Site requirements

While the website has been designed to provide access to a variety of technologies and browsers, some visitors may encounter visual differences or technical issues depending on the operating system and browser used.  As a result, we recommend visitors ensure they are using a standards-compliant browser.

Applications & plug-ins

Where possible, the Toolbox website will provide information and services in HTML format to ensure maximum accessibility. However, sometimes it is more accessible to provide some documents in Adobe Portable Document (PDF) format. To view these documents you will require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/.
