A skin penetration operator must not carry out a procedure unless they are registered with Council. Council must be advised of the address of the premises used for skin penetration procedures. Council will then undertake regular inspections to ensure compliance with the Public Health Act 1991 and Public Health (Skin Penetration) Regulation 2000. The following information will assist you in ensuring that your legislative requirments are fulfilled and that you consider other applications that may be required for your business.

To assess the suitability of your premises, you may be required to submit the following plans with any Development Application:
Layout plans outlining all equipment, benches, storage cupboards (storage of staff personal items), sinks, handbasin, door/window openings, location of staff areas and chemical/cleaning equipment storage areas to a suitable scale (eg1:100).
Cross section plans each drawn through separate areas of the storage and customer service areas. Details are to include finishes to walls, floors and ceilings, heights of fixtures from floors and benches, junctions of walls and floors and lighting provisions to asuitable scale (eg 1:50).
Site plan showing location of premises in regard to other premises including waste water treatment devices, waste storage area and staff toilets to a suitable scale.
Details of location and types of sterilising equipment and laundry facilities for sanitising needles, towels, wraps etc
